Todd Young tries to rewrite history on his work with the infrastructure law, flip-flop on The Jobs Act
It appears U.S. Senator Todd Young is trying to rewrite history about his work on President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. During an interview on Fox59’s INFocus Sunday Show, Young claimed the “behind closed doors” negotiations of The Jobs Act (and the upcoming Build Back Better Act) was why he ultimately voted “NO” on the transformational investments to Indiana’s infrastructure system.
Here’s what Senator Young had to say yesterday:
“This is exactly why you need to have bipartisan legislation, not developed behind closed doors,” Sen. Young said. “We have an incredibly partisan effort by Senator Schumer and President Biden… and the American people, for the most part, have had enough.” – Fox59’s INFocus, 12.05.21
The thing is, though: Todd Young sprinted to media during the summer to brag about being a part of those “behind closed doors” negotiations. In fact, Senator Young did a press tour bragging about becoming a prime negotiator of The Jobs Act, even appearing on cable news shows like MSNBC’s Morning Joe program to tout the bill.
In response, the Indiana Democratic Party had this to say about Young’s attempt to rewrite history:
“Senator Todd Young criticized the “behind closed door” process with #TheJobsAct, a bipartisan law he helped negotiate until his last-minute flip-flop. Young is proving to be the double-speaking politician who puts his partisanship ahead of honesty. #INSen” – Indiana Democratic Party, 12.06.21
There’s no doubt Todd Young is going along with this strategy just to appeal to President Donald Trump himself. It’s also why Senator Young flip-flopped on this once-in-a-generation investment to Indiana’s infrastructure system – because he is afraid of a primary challenger. Young is once again proving his partisanship will come before common-sense solutions. This is why the INGOP is bad for business and bad for the future of Indiana.
