Today, thanks exclusively to Democrats in Congress and the American Rescue Plan, Hoosier families will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payment today, providing tax relief for working families.

The CTC, which was expanded and improved through the American Rescue Plan, will offer working families a lifeline and help secure a stronger future for the nation’s children, benefitting roughly 39 million households.

The monthly payments, which Victoria Spartz voted against, will start hitting bank accounts today, July 15. This benefit will:

  • Provide $300 per month per child for children under six years of age
  • Provide $250 per month per child 6 to 17 years of age
  • Reach nearly 90% of families nationwide to help working Americans cover the costs of childcare, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.

Families that are considered non-filers are also eligible for the expanded credits.

DCCC Spokesperson Elena Kuhn

“When Victoria Spartz had the chance to cut taxes for working families, she sided with party leaders and voted against giving Hoosiers critical tax relief. As Spartz joined Republicans in opposing this vital aid to families, Democrats delivered.”
