The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today announced it will launch a second statewide tour this Thursday to highlight why Indiana needs to revitalize its infrastructure system. Dubbed the American Jobs Plan tour, this effort will bring together voters from across Indiana to hear about a Jobs Plan that will create good-paying jobs, renovate Indiana’s current infrastructure needs, and build a better future for Hoosier families. This includes fixing Indiana’s crumbling roads and bridges, taking broadband internet expansion to the next level, eliminating childcare deserts for families, strengthening unions via the Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, and securing better health care access for Indiana’s 400,000+ veterans.

The American Jobs Plan is the next stage of Indiana’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Rescue Plan helped put the pandemic in the rearview mirror, but it’ll be the Jobs Plan that takes Indiana and Hoosier families to the #NextLevel. Further, the Jobs Plan will fix a state economy that currently makes Hoosiers work more for less and does little to set families up for long-term success — all thanks to the Indiana Republican Party.

“Indiana needs to create more economic opportunities for everyone. Sadly, for years, Republicans have deployed catchy buzzwords to gloss over a state that just isn’t working for most Hoosiers. People are being told to work more for less, drive on crumbling roads and bridges, and provide for their families despite high childcare costs and little to no access to high-speed internet. This is simply unacceptable in 2021,” said Mike Schmuhl, Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party. “President Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan will fix the problems that Indiana Republicans have failed to address by creating a level playing field for hard working folks who deserve a brighter future for themselves and their families. Democrats are hopeful Republicans will join us to get this done instead of defaulting to blatant partisanship. Solutions should come before party, and the American Jobs Plan will take Indiana to the #NextLevel.”

The Indiana Democratic Party’s American Jobs Plan tour follows the successful American Rescue Plan tour where Democrats crisscrossed the state to share with Hoosiers how the federal stimulus package is helping their families put COVID-19 in the rearview mirror. From big cities like Fort Wayne and Evansville to small towns like Osgood and Bluffton, Hoosiers learned about how the Rescue Plan delivered $5.8 billion for Indiana and its towns, $1,400 relief checks for 91-percent of Hoosier adults, $250 million for broadband internet expansion, and $350 billion to help recruit new police officers and fight crime across the nation, including for Indiana.
