DR. WOODY MYERS STATEMENT ON GOV. HOLCOMB’S ‘PROUD’ RECORD RE: COVID-19, STAGGERING DEATH TOLL

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana’s COVID-19 numbers continue to soar to apocalyptic levels since Gov. Eric Holcomb opened the state to stage 5. As of today, Indiana has seen a 92% increase in the 7-day positivity rate since reopening to Stage 5 and Dr. Myers notes the following:

“Gov. Holcomb has repeatedly said he is ‘proud of the way he has managed this global pandemic’ but today Indiana has again shattered our single day COVID-19 case record with 3,649 new cases and 33 more Hoosiers have died. More concerning is that a mere 26.8% of our hospital beds are available as we enter a dangerous flu season. While Gov. Holcomb continues the Trump party line pretending the pandemic isn’t a thing, I will use my experience as State Health Commissioner to protect Hoosiers’ health and livelihoods.”
