Pete Cowden Responds to Comments Calling Fallen Soldiers “Losers”
Thursday evening, major news networks reported that President Trump had disparaged troops killed in action. Pete Cowden, a former Army Ranger and candidate for State Senate District 35 had the following to say. “My 2nd deployment in 2010 was part of President Obama’s surge to Helmed, Afghanistan. During that year we lost more Rangers than were killed in action since Vietnam. In John 15:13 Jesus says, ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.‘ My brothers who died overseas are my heroes. Their love of country was so great they gave up everything. They left behind children they will not get to raise and wives they will not get to embrace. They are the giants we stand on the shoulders of.”
If true these comments sadden me. Particularly as they are said out of complete ignorance of such sacrifices and in the safety that our fallen have provided. This isn’t about politics, this is simply about right and wrong and I know that my fellow Hoosiers agree with me that this type of behavior is just wrong.”
