INDIANA’S 8TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT CANDIDATE THOMASINA MARSILI MOURNS HER FATHER’S PASSING

Spencer, Indiana As stated in our weekly newsletter written by Betsy Anderson, early Sunday,August 30, 2020 Frank Marsili, the father of Indiana’s 8th Congressional District CandidateThomasina Marsili, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana following a battlewith cancer.

Born in 1942, Frank earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kentucky. A Vietnamvet, he rose to the rank of Sergeant Major during his Army service from 1965-1968 and was aformer member of American Legion Post #213. He worked at General Electric in Tell City, INand Columbia, TN before serving as Director of Physical Facilities at St. Meinrad Archabbey for23 years, where he also enjoyed participating in, and cooking for, Relay for Life. An activemember of St. Pius Catholic Church, he sang in the choir, served as Fall Fest Chairman formany years, and also participated in the Connected in Spirit Committee

“Although my heart is broken, it will always be filled with his love,” Thomasina said. While sheand her family mourn Frank’s passing, they remain grateful they could be at his bedside duringhis final days. Thomasina sends her gratitude to the Ascension St. Vincent Evansville team fortheir kindness and compassion during this process, and she deeply appreciates the outpouringof sympathy from 8th District residents. Their hearts ache for the nearly 200,000 Americanfamilies who have been denied the chance to touch and say a last farewell to loved one hospitalized with COVID-19. This poignant experience only strengthens Thomasina’s resolve tohelp our veterans and underrepresented Hoosiers. “My dad devoted his life to service andhelping others, and this is where I got my passion. It only makes this fight more visceral. It onlymakes this fight more personal. And together our stories will win,” she said, adding that shortlybefore he became unable to speak, her father told her, “We’re okay here. Keep doing whatyou’re doing.”

As a veteran, active member of his church, and champion for restoring small communities,Frank inspired Thomasina to run on a platform of true service. Through his work with Relay forLife and the Knights of Columbus, Frank instilled Thomasina with the grit and determination tofight for rural communities that are spread all across our district.
