The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today announced the addition of Jessica Garcia to serve as Treasurer of the Indiana Democratic Party’s State Central Committee. Garcia is replacing Henry Fernandez, who stepped down from the position earlier this month. The State Party released the following statement by Chairman Mike Schmuhl in celebration of the new transition for the Indiana Democrats:

“Jessica Garcia has spent a career in public service advocating for a brighter tomorrow for Hoosier families – regardless of county or community. Whether it is through her work in Congressman André Carson’s office or involvement in constituent groups like the Indiana Democratic Latino Caucus, Jessica is a proven leader and a valued voice in the Indiana Democratic Party.

Jessica’s experience is a welcomed addition to the Indiana Democratic Party’s State Central Committee, and it’s without a doubt she will be a key voice in the effort to tell the story on how President Joe Biden, André Carson, Frank Mrvan, and statehouse Democrats are creating a better future for Indiana and Hoosier families.”

Jessica Garcia also released the following statement after the State Central Committee voted unanimously in favor of her appointment:

“As a lifelong Democrat from Kosciusko County, I remain steadfast in my beliefs that this country must work for everyone, and we must continue to elect people who represent their districts ethically and honorably.

Indiana Democrats are fully united in the shared values that issues like health care, education, and a quality job are necessities for Hoosier families to live and thrive in the state we call home. This very fact is why it’s an honor to join a committed body of leaders who are proud of the work Democrats have done to create a better future for our families and deliver those kitchen-table issues that matter most to voters.

I’ve had a long career in public service – including my current position as Constituent Services Liaison for Congressman André Carson – and have witnessed firsthand the good work Democrats can accomplish in public office. Community and Leadership outside of professional life are also very important to me. I am a proud member of Class 2 of Hoosier Women Forward and the 7th District Chair of the Indiana Democratic Latino Caucus. My years of public service and commitment to building a better future for the Hoosier State energizes me for the work that’s ahead as Treasurer for our Indiana Democratic Party.”
