Priest Defrocked After Copying Elon Musk’s Salute at Pro-Life Summit: Report

The Anglican Catholic Church (ACC) has defrocked Father Calvin Robinson after he mimicked a controversial gesture by Elon Musk that closely resembled a Nazi salute. Robinson, speaking at the National Pro-Life Summit in Washington, D.C., ended his remarks by quoting Musk and performing the same palm-down salute that Musk had used, which was widely celebrated by extremists, reported RollingStone.com.

The ACC leadership condemned the act, stating that while Robinson’s intent was unclear, the gesture appeared to be an attempt to gain favor with the American political right by provoking opposition. Robinson had previously been warned against online trolling and similar behavior, which the ACC deemed incompatible with the priesthood. As a result, his license was revoked, and he is no longer a priest in the ACC.

Robinson, who had only joined the ACC in 2024, has a history of moving between religious institutions. He previously left the Church of England after claiming his politics prevented his ordination, briefly served in the Free Church of England, and had a short tenure with the Nordic Catholic Church before joining the ACC.

The ACC emphasized that mimicking a Nazi salute, even as a joke, trivializes the Holocaust and disrespects those who fought against it. The church’s decision underscores its commitment to distancing itself from extremism and political provocation.
