INDems Statement on 2025 State of the State Address
The Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement from Chair Mike Schmuhl after Governor Mike Braun’s first State of the State Address.
“As Governor Braun said, Hoosiers stand at the crossroads over the next four years. Hoosier families need support from rising health care costs, property tax bills, utility bills, and childcare accessibility that have risen under nearly two decades of total Republican control at the Statehouse. Hoosier Democrats will work with Governor Braun across the aisle where we can find common ground on these issues and others.
However, Hoosiers deserve an approach that protects funding for local governments, including our excellent public schools and police and fire departments. We must provide property tax relief for working families that protects first responders and doesn’t threaten critical funding for schools, sidewalks, and police officers.
All these issues are the result of nearly two-straight decades of one-party Republican control. Hoosiers deserve more than words — they need action on these issues and more.”
