IDP Statement on Destiny Wells’ Commanding Victory in AG Debate
The Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement today after the airing of the first, and currently only scheduled Attorney General debate between Destiny Wells and Todd Rokita hosted by FOX 59/CBS 4.
“Destiny Wells was focused on the issues that matter: medical privacy, respect for the rule of law, and the rights of Hoosier workers.” said Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl. “Todd Rokita was rude, out-of-touch, and disrespectful throughout the entirety of the debate. He interrupted Destiny Wells constantly and did all he could to distract from the questions at hand because he is scared about Hoosiers knowing the truth of his record.”
“Todd makes excuses for his public reprimand by the State Supreme Court and three disciplinary complaints to distract Hoosiers that he is putting his law license in jeopardy for making false statements on national television against a healthcare provider who performed life-saving care on a ten year old rape victim. It’s well past time for new leadership in the AG’s office that will be accountable to taxpayers, and protect every family’s medical privacy by electing Destiny Wells.
“Bottom line: even in just a twenty minute debate the contrast was on full display between chaos and common sense, and Hoosiers deserve to see the candidates debate again for a full hour before Election Day. Destiny Wells is ready to debate again anytime, anywhere, and we invite Todd to join her.”
