Welcome back to The Indiana Democratic Party’s weekly series called We Listened So You Don’t Have To: The Micah Beckwith Weird Weekly Roundup, which serves as a one-stop-shop that summarizes all the weird, offbeat, and simply gross things Mike Braun’s running mate Beckwith says. Prepare yourself people: It gets weird over there. Bonus: At the end of every Roundup, we’ll include the cherry on top, AKA that week’s weirdest moment.

Remember, Braun said on the convention stage in June according to POLITICO’s Adam Wren about his running mate Beckwith: “Everything you believe in, I have as well.”

This edition’s items include (and we’re sorry in advance):

  • For someone so concerned about the rise of “fake news,” Beckwith should probably stop spreading it: On Facebook, he reposted a debunked claim that FEMA used its disaster relief fund to aid immigrants with an undocumented status. This is false. Instead of attacking the very agency trying to limit the hurricane’s effects, Beckwith should turn his attention to Braun, who voted against funding the organization just days before Hurricane Helene made landfall
  • On October 9, Beckwith posted an article State Affairs wrote about him which asserted that he opposes moves towards equality such as gay marriage, and is committed to challenging Mike Braun’s leadership if elected. We urge you to vote, because the possibility of a Beckwith-Braun dysfunctional administration should scare us all

And the cherry on top?

Beckwith is back to posting AI-generated images (he’s done this before when he posted a fake picture of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wearing a breastfeeding device). This week, he published an AI image of a girl, sobbing while holding a puppy in a lifeboat as a result of Hurricane Helene.

Yes, the pain caused by hurricanes is real, which is why the Biden-Harris administration remains vigilant in its mitigation of the problem. But disrespecting the victims of these disasters by using fake photos and information instead of addressing the issue upfront? Shameful, a disservice, and a disgrace to those affected by this tragedy
