We Listened So You Don’t Have To: The Micah Beckwith Weird Weekly Roundup: September 12, 2024
Welcome back to The Indiana Democratic Party’s weekly series called We Listened So You Don’t Have To: The Micah Beckwith Weird Weekly Roundup, which serves as a one-stop-shop that summarizes all the weird, offbeat, and simply gross things Republican lieutenant governor nominee Beckwith says. Prepare yourself people: It gets weird over there. Bonus: At the end of every Roundup, we’ll include the cherry on top, AKA that week’s weirdest moment.
This edition’s items include (and we’re sorry in advance):
- On September 10, Beckwith posted an article on Facebook from a conservative website that blasted a pride event hosted by the city of Fishers. In a comment on the post, Micah said “Sexually grooming children has been a part of the Fishers culture for a long time.” We beg your finest pardon?
- Why would Micah say such vile things about a community close to him and that’s always been run by Republicans?
- In another Facebook post from September 10 (does this guy do anything else?) Beckwith reaffirmed that he and Braun would take a strict approach to abortion, by implementing criminal charges and punishments for doctors who performed the procedure and for pharmacists that distributed abortion pills.
- On September 5, Beckwith posted a picture of President Biden alongside dictators such as Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin. Incredibly online Micah should know about Godwin’s Law..
- Last but not least, we have an extra special bonus scoop this week that is so unhinged, we believe it speaks for itself. Presenting… whatever this “logic” is:
And the cherry on top?
Beckwith was a guest on a rightwing Christian podcast hosted by two sisters self titled the Resistance Chicks. During the podcast, Micah discussed the role of lieutenant governor and argued that it should have more power than it is given:
“In that moment when [LG Suzanne Crouch] said the governor appointed me, I heard the lord say ‘force the conversation. Who does this office belong to?’ …We have unjustly taken the authority away from the people and given it to the governor, and that’s still a sin against God.”
Sounds like Braun will have a hard time getting his divisive, controlling lieutenant governor to follow his agenda if they are elected to office. Good luck with that one, Mike!
