WATCH: Braun Out of Touch on IVF and State Abortion Ban
In comments during the third Republican debate last week on WISH TV, Senator Mike Braun made outlandish remarks on the future of in-vitro fertilization and the status of the abortion ban passed in 2022.
In the debate, he claims no one is coming after IVF, and that it doesn’t need protection.
He also praises the state’s near total abortion ban as “practical”, and that Indiana Republicans “got it right”.
“If Mike Braun is elected governor, IVF is in danger in Indiana,” said Indiana Democratic Party Executive Director Dayna Colbert. “Thousands of couples trying to start a family here in Indiana look at what happened in Alabama, and wonder if the same thing could happen in Indiana. We should be assuring them that their healthcare is not in danger — not brushing aside their concerns.”
“Jennifer McCormick knows the state’s abortion ban is wrong. It stops women from seeking the care they need, is pushing doctors from our state, and is deeply unpopular. She will lead a movement as governor to restore the right to choose, and protect IVF and all forms of contraception for every family.”
