INDems statement on Mike Braun Being Fined $159,000 for Improper Campaign Loans
Mike Braun’s Senate campaign account was fined $159,000 by the Federal Election Commission this week for improperly reporting more than $11 million in campaign loans.
With this fine, Braun sets the record for the largest FEC-imposed fine ever on the account of a sitting United States senator.
Braun accepted these loans during the 2018 U.S. Senate election, which was also the closest statewide election in Indiana in the past six years. He defeated then-Sen. Joe Donnelly who actually wanted the job and worked hard each day for hard-working Hoosier families.
“Mike Braun has made a career out of lying to Hoosiers,” said Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Mike Schmuhl. “Whether it’s hiding millions worth of loans to the FEC, or going home to sleep instead of casting an important vote in Washington, Sen. Braun has shown that he does not care about serving Hoosiers or doing his job.
