Republicans For Governor Attack Each Other, Indiana’s Track Record in Latest Debate
Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl released the following statement after Thursday evening’s GOP gubernatorial debate:
“For the second-straight night, the Republicans running for governor spent the evening lamenting Indiana’s low wages, lagging quality of life, and pointing out what our state can do better. It’s true – Indiana can do better, but that change will not come from anyone on the debate stage tonight. After twenty years of Republican administrations, our state needs more balance.
“Mike Braun and all the Republican candidates for governor are running as far to the MAGA extreme as possible – centering their campaigns on national talking points and issues that are outside the scope of the governor’s job.
“Just like last night, discussion on healthcare, childcare, and kitchen table issues impacting every family was lacking. What Hoosiers got instead was more culture wars, attack lines, and extreme positions – from support of the near-total abortion ban to tax giveaways for the wealthy. Hoosiers deserve better and Jennifer McCormick can put Indiana on a better path for the future when she’s elected governor in November.”
