Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita was today publicly reprimanded by the Indiana Supreme Court for his comments on national television attacking Dr. Caitlin Bernard.

The court issued the reprimand for Rokita’s statement to FOX News on July 13, 2022 when he called Dr. Bernard an “abortion activist acting as a doctor — with a history of failing to report.”

In his statement in response to the reprimand, AG Rokita mentions that he intends to run for re-election — a fact not relevant to his official role as AG, or this matter.

“Todd Rokita today became the second straight Republican state attorney general to be found in violation of Indiana’s Professional Conduct Rules,” said Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Mike Schmuhl. “Hoosiers knew from the beginning that Rokita’s witch hunt against Dr. Bernard was politically motivated. The Court found that Rokita’s statement on FOX News served ‘no substantial purpose other than to embarrass or burden the physician’. It’s time Hoosiers have an Attorney General that’s actually committed to working for Indiana and upholding our laws, not furthering their own personal political agenda. Rokita’s actions have brought tremendous harm to our state and while some of that is irreversible, we can all take action next year by voting him out of office.”
