Todd Young’s “Happy” Neighbors
The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called out U.S. Senator Todd Young for claiming he was “happy” for his neighbors and 91-percent of Hoosiers who received $1,400 relief checksto help them get through the COVID-19 pandemic — that is, after he voted against the very plan that made it happen: The American Rescue Plan (ARP). Young also slammed the collective $350 billion in aid states received through ARP, however, the Senator intentionally omitted Indiana received $5.8 billion of those dollars to help its communities across the state responsibly get out of the pandemic itself.
“Senator Todd Young must not have read the American Rescue Plan because if he had put aside his RNC talking points, he would have realized Indiana and its communities received more than $5.8 billion in relief that will now help our state responsibly get out of COVID-19,” said Drew Anderson, spokesman for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Democrats are excited Todd Young is ‘happy’ his neighbors received $1,400 in relief, because he’s proving that when Hoosiers elect Democrats — stuff gets done. The American Rescue Plan is the start of our country getting back on track, and it’s a shame Young put his partisanship ahead of common-sense by voting against this law.”
