Indiana saw a surge in sports and casino wagering in March, largely driven by the NCAA basketball tournaments. According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, Hoosiers legally wagered $553.6 million on sports last month, the highest total so far in 2025 and nearly 11% higher than the same month in 2024. Most of these bets were placed online through operators like FanDuel and DraftKings, although in-person bets at casinos—especially in Northwest Indiana—also contributed significantly. March’s haul neared the state’s all-time monthly record of $614.4 million set in November 2024, highlighting the enduring popularity of sports betting among Indiana residents.

Casino gaming also remained strong in March, with more than $2.1 billion wagered at slot machines and table games statewide. Casinos kept $227.5 million in winnings, contributing $70.5 million in gaming taxes and $3.4 million in sports wagering taxes to the state. Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana led earnings for the 41st straight month, pulling in $38.5 million in winnings. Casino executives noted strong slot and table game performance, along with anticipation for upcoming concerts and entertainment events. Other major casinos across Northwest Indiana, including Horseshoe Hammond and Ameristar East Chicago, also reported millions in revenue, while Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino in Illinois posted impressive growth in its early months of operation.
