The SnydeReport is proud to announce that Dr. Terry Goodin, a dedicated Hoosier educator, public servant, and rural development advocate, is joining the publication as a monthly columnist and political analyst on The SnydeReport Podcast. His expertise and commitment to Indiana’s communities will provide valuable insights on pressing issues affecting Hoosiers.

Dr. Goodin, a true Hoosier at heart, was raised on a family farm where he developed a deep understanding of hard work and the importance of community. His passion for public service has been a defining feature of his career, most recently serving as the State Director for Rural Development with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In this role, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of rural Hoosiers through economic and infrastructure development initiatives.

A lifelong advocate for education, Dr. Goodin is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1989 and a Master of Arts in History and Secondary Education in 1990. He later obtained his Doctorate from Indiana University Bloomington in 1995.

Prior to his work with the USDA, Dr. Goodin spent decades in public education. He began his administrative career as an assistant principal and teacher at Austin High School before becoming an assistant principal at Bloomington High School South. He later served as Superintendent of Crothersville Community Schools for 24 years, where he pioneered one of Indiana’s first Early College initiatives, allowing students to graduate from high school with a college degree.

Elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2000, Dr. Goodin served for 20 years, including a term as House Minority Leader in 2017. As a legislator, he championed initiatives in education, agriculture, and rural development while advocating for expanded broadband connectivity. His leadership also extended to serving on the State Budget Committee and as Vice-Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Additionally, he contributed to various legislative committees, including Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources, Roads and Transportation, International Trade, Banking and Finance, Elections, and Apportionment.

Dr. Goodin resides in Austin, Indiana, with his wife, Darcie, and their three children—Grace, Berley, and Brown—where he continues to raise beef cattle on the family farm. His deep-rooted connection to Indiana’s rural communities, combined with his extensive experience in public service, will make his contributions to The SnydeReport both informative and impactful.

“We are thrilled to have Terry join The SnydeReport,” said Gary Snyder, Publisher of The SnydeReport. “His extensive background in education, government, and rural advocacy will bring valuable perspectives to our readers. His voice will be an important addition to our coverage of Indiana’s most pressing issues.”

Dr. Goodin’s columns will be published weekly on The SnydeReport, offering readers a thoughtful analysis of the challenges and opportunities facing Indiana’s communities.
