Beckwith/Braun Trashes Olympic Games as “Satanic” in Bizarre Weekend Rant

This weekend Mike Braun’s running mate Micah Beckwith posted a series of bizarre comments on X about the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games, calling the games’ organizers “satanic” and wishing Paris would fall into a long electrical blackout to cancel the games.

Instead of celebrating the dozens of Hoosier athletes at the games who call Indiana home, or work or study here, Micah chooses more division and fear. And this all comes from the man who wants to head Indiana’s tourism department as lieutenant governor.

Hoosiers are ready to move past divisive, fear-based politics, and elect leaders who prioritize Indiana and our communities.

Beckwith’s most notable act in public service was the reshelfing of hundreds of books at Hamilton East Libraries, including titles by Hoosier author John Green.

“Micah is proving on the campaign trail that he would use the lieutenant governor’s office as a stage for endless culture wars, including focusing on events thousands of miles away from Indiana,” said Indiana Democratic Party Spokesman Sam Barloga

“His outsized influence in a Braun administration will turn Indiana’s executive branch into a vehicle that pushes divisive rhetoric, book bans, and an abortion ban with no exceptions, including for rape, incest, or the life of the mother.”

“The contrast couldn’t be more clear. Jennifer McCormick and Terry Goodin will lead with a focus on childcare reform, workers’ rights, and restoring reproductive freedom to Hoosier families.”

As Hoosiers come together and tune into the Olympics over the next two weeks, let’s celebrate the athletes from Indiana who have achieved so much and made so many sacrifices to compete on the world stage.
