John Rust is closing his campaign to be the next Indiana Republican United States Senator, for now.   In an unprecedented move, the Indiana GOP endorsed Rust’s opponent shortly after his filing to run for the US Senate.   Their intention was to deter all other potential Republican candidates from entering the race.   This is not democracy, this is the state & party insiders choosing our candidates.

John Rust visited all 92 counties, meeting with thousands of Hoosiers.  Rust filed with more petition signatures than any other candidate, and the establishment promptly removed him from the ballot.  This is a testament to the fact that Hoosiers want an outsider, not a career politician in Washington.

On Tuesday, Indiana voters voted with their feet… they stayed home.

Indiana ranks dead last in voter participation in the United States.   Why?  More than 81% of Hoosiers are barred from running for political office.  John Rust believes that the voters of Indiana deserve a choice.

Rust is a sixth generation Indiana farmer and political outsider who has not taken any campaign funds from the special interests.

The thought of someone who is independent of party control was too much for those who wanted to decide your vote.  Rust went to court to challenge the ballot access law and won!   Not happy with that decision that restored the rights of all Hoosiers to run for office, the Indiana Attorney General and the State GOP challenged that court ruling by going immediately to the Indiana Supreme Court.

In what was deliberate timing, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled, in a split vote, to overturn the lower court’s decision.   The partisan non-elected Indiana Election Commission voted to remove Rust from the ballot, keeping alive the insider game that was being forced on Hoosiers.

During that same time the United States Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of Donald Trump that Colorado could not interfere with Federal Elections.   We believe the Indiana Supreme Court’s split decision is in error and Rust is taking this case to the US Supreme Court to protect the future rights of all Hoosiers.

John Rust will fight for the rights of all citizens of Indiana to pursue their political and public service dreams.

Abraham Lincoln said “Elections belong to the people, it is their decision.”   Sadly in Indiana that is not the case.  John Rust will continue his fight for all Hoosiers.
