DR. WOODY MYERS ISSUES PLAN FOR MITIGATION OF CONTINUED COVID-19 PANDEMIC OUTBREAK
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana’s COVID-19 numbers hit more than 3,000 cases for a second straight day with 3,205 new cases and 26 deaths. Dr. Woody Myers made the following statement:
“In these important last days of an election, Governor Holcomb continues to be missing-in-action while our neighbors and family members continue to die.”
Dr. Myers and Linda Lawson’s plan for mitigating the COVID-19 spread:
- Return Indiana to a public health emergency status
- Distribute Hoosiers’ remaining $700M of CARES ACT funding
- Implement a true mask mandate and strengthen contact tracing techniques using advanced technology like a state specific smartphone application
- Provide clear guidance and support to K-12 schools to achieve virtual and hybrid learning
- Provide direct financial assistance for our most vulnerable populations
- Reinstate rental assistance programs and institute a utility shutoff moratorium
- Provide Hoosiers with the reassurance of a public process to guarantee fair and equitable vaccine distribution
- Direct Indiana National Guard to construct field hospitals collocated in hardest hit COVID-19 areas and population centers
- Guide the General Assembly to take immediate legislative action to help Hoosiers on Organization Day
